Hydroquinone is a chemical that can lighten freckles, if used properly. It isn’t advisable to be used without a doctor’s prescription, because it can irritate the skin. It also causes cancer that’s why it has been banned here in Europe.
Another skin pigmentation treatment that is very effective and safe is laser treatment. What’s also good about it is that it also reduces wrinkles and tightens the skin. Your skin will look beautiful, youthful and clearer after 3 weeks but the treatment is just 10 to 30 min. However the downside to this is it can be quite expensive.
Skin peels also help lighten skin pigmentation, the effectiveness of the peel depends upon the depth and the strength of the peel used. Phenol peels remove melanin so you can never tan after.
Skin pigmentation treatment could also be done at home if you’re on a budget. You can use fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C such as red currant, black currant, red onions and cabbage all you have to do is rub it to your skin. However it takes time to see immediate results.
